DAY 01. USA/TEL AVIV.
Depart for Tel Aviv. (Meals in Flight)
DAY 02: TEL AVIV/JERUSALEM
Arrival in Tel Aviv. Upon arrival, transfer to our hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. (D)
DAY 03: MOUNT OF OLIVES/MOUNT ZION/BETHLEHEM
This morning we begin on the Mount of Olives for a panoramic view of Jerusalem. We visit the Chapel of the Ascension, The Church of Pater Noster and walk along Palm Sunday Road stopping at Dominus Flevit and the Garden of Gethsemane. Here we visit the Church of All Nations, which stands on the Rock of the Agony. View the Eastern (Golden) Gate and the Pinnacle of the Temple. Drive to Mount Zion and visit the House of Caiaphas, “The High Priest," where Jesus was brought on the night He was arrested. We will visit the site of the Last Supper and the Tomb of David. We then proceed to Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus. We will visit the Church of the Nativity, Manger Square and Shepherd’s Fields. We return to our hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. DAY 04: JERUSALEM/BETHFAGE
Today is a walking tour of the "Old City" of Jerusalem. We visit the Western Wall, walk through the excavations, and have a period of devotions on the southern steps to the temple area. We will see Mount Moriah and the Dome of the Rock, where tradition holds that Abraham took Isaac to be sacrificed. We then proceed to the Pool of Bethesda, the Chapel of the Flagellation and Pilate's Judgment Hall. We will walk the Via Dolorosa, the Way of the Cross, passing through picturesque native bazaars to reach the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Next, we visit Bethfage, where Jesus mounted the donkey to begin His triumphal ride into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. Our day ends at the Garden Tomb and Golgotha, (also known as Skull Hill. We return to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. (B/D)
Day 05: EIN KAREM/ JERICHO/QUMRAN/DEAD SEA We will drive to Ein Karem, to see the church built over the place where John the Baptist was born. We proceed through the Judean Wilderness and view the breath-taking Valley of Shadow of Death through the Jordan Valley to Jericho, the world’s oldest inhabited city. In the afternoon, we will travel to Qumran, the site of the discovery of Dead Sea scrolls. We continue to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. We’ll stop briefly at the shores of the Dead Sea for a quick dip in the salt and mineral laden waters. Return to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. (B/D)
DAY 06: JERUSALEM/BETHANY/JORDAN VALLEY/TIBERIAS
This morning we leave Jerusalem and drive to visit Bethany, the site where Mary, Martha and Lazarus lived and the tomb of Lazarus. nd the tomb of Lazarus. We continue up the Jordan Valley to Tiberias in Galilee. We will stop at the tradition site of Baptism on the Jordan River. (B/D)
DAY 07: AROUND THE SEA OF GALILEE
Today we start by sailing on the Sea of Galilee. We will visit Capernaum, Jesus' second home. There we will see the second century Synagogue and the House of Peter's mother-in-law. We also visit Tabgha, the chapel dedicated to the multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes, the Mount of Beatitudes, site of the Sermon on the Mount. Then return to Tiberias for dinner and overnight. DAY 08: NAZARETH/NAZARETH VILLAGE/CANA
This morning we will travel to Nazareth where we will see the Church of the Annunciation and Mary’s Well After breakfast we depart Tiberias and proceed to Nazareth, viewing Mount Tabor and Cana traveling through the Valley of Esdraelon. In Nazareth we will see the Church of the Annunciation, Joseph's Workshop and Mary's Well. We will also visit Nazareth Village, where we will learn about everyday life in 1st Century Nazareth. Then it is on to Cana where Jesus turned water into wine at a wedding feast. We return to Tiberas for dinner and overnight. (B/D)
DAY 9: TIBERIAS/MOUNT CARMEL/CAESAREA/NETANYA
After breakfast we depart Tiberias. We view Mount Tabor and the historic military fortress of Megiddo that controlled the highway between Egypt and Mesopotamia as we make our way through the Valley of Armageddon. On to Haifa to see Mount Carmel and visit Elijah's Cave. We will drive south along the Mediterranean Sea and stop in Caesarea, the ancient port built by King Herod the Great. Then continue on to Netanya for dinner and overnight. (B/D)
DAY 10: NETANYA/TEL AVIV/USA
We leave Netanya for Tel Aviv and our flight back home. We bring back with us memories of exciting and rewarding experiences in the Holy Land. This region will be more understood now as we read history, scripture and current events. (Meals in Flight)
